Job Reference nhg/TP/36088/2035
Job Introduction
What you’ll do
We are looking for an experienced M&E engineering professional to lead the operational delivery of engineering assurance across our M&E and Fire Safety systems.
You will manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, inspectors and technical assurance specialists, ensuring that works delivered to homes and communal environments meet the required technical, safety and quality standards.
Providing independent oversight of contractor performance, you will help maintain safe, reliable and consistent services for residents. Through your team, you will also ensure there is a responsive technical presence to manage incidents and provide out-of-hours support when required.
How you’ll make a difference
You will ensure that M&E and Fire Safety systems across our homes and communal environments are consistently assessed, inspected and supported. Your leadership will strengthen engineering assurance, improve the quality and reliability of contractor-delivered works and help identify technical and safety risks at an early stage.
By leading our engineering, inspection and assurance teams, you will deliver a coordinated service that supports safe and compliant outcomes for residents and builds confidence in the technical quality of our services.
How you’ll do it
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of M&E engineering assurance, ensuring inspections, technical support and assurance activities are coordinated and delivered consistently across homes and communal environments.
- Manage the performance and capacity of engineering, inspection and technical assurance teams, setting clear priorities and ensuring resources are used effectively.
- Ensure monthly technical inspections are completed and that issues affecting life safety systems are identified, reported and escalated appropriately.
- Oversee the certification review process, ensuring submissions are reviewed promptly, supported by clear evidence and aligned with relevant engineering standards.
- Ensure engineering teams provide a consistent and professional technical presence on site and during out-of-hours emergencies, supporting contractor activity and resolving technical queries.
- Work with contractors and internal teams to improve technical quality through desktop reviews and site audits, providing constructive challenge and clear feedback on performance.
- Ensure inspection, certification and assurance records are accurate, complete and reliable, supporting audit requirements and the integrity of asset data.
- Monitor engineering performance and use data and insight to identify trends, highlight risks and support improvements in quality and service delivery.
- Lead, manage and develop the engineering team, maintaining current knowledge of legislation, regulatory requirements and professional standards across the service.
